It’s such a long title for such an easy recipe. Hawaiian rolls are already so yummy but add cinnamon and vanilla… and Nutella and now everyone loves you for your treats. Of all the Nutella Recipes I’ve done at home, this is by far my favorite.
Want something a bit healthier for breakfast? Try our Air Fryer Banana Bread Bites recipe. Eva made them with no refined sugars, but they are still naturally sweet because of honey and banana.
Ingredients
- Hawaiian sweet rolls
- Nutella
- eggs
- heavy whipping cream
- vanilla extract (or pumpkin pie extract!)
- cinnamon
- sugar is optional

Turn The Rolls Into Toast
Start by mixing your eggs, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon into a bowl big enough to place the rolls into. Before placing the rolls in the cream, however, pinch out a finger-sized hole in the middle of the roll for the Nutella. Take your time dipping the rolls in the mixture. It will take a little bit for the mixture to soak in. There’s a perfect moment when you’ve soaked up just enough mix but the bread won’t tear when you lift the rolls out to place it on your cooking sheet or in a muffin pan.
Prepare The Oven
Turn on the oven. Use a cookie sheet or a muffin pan to hold the muffins. I found a muffin tin worked much better so they wouldn’t fall over. Spoon about a teaspoon of Nutella into each roll and place in the oven.
That’s It!
These are not as sweet as they sound. You can add sugar to the mixture if you want, but it’s not necessary. I tried pumpkin pie spice extract that I found, in place of the vanilla, and it was super tasty, so you can try other extract flavors to get more variety from this dessert. These do still work as breakfast food if you do not add sugar, but it’s not a ‘healthy option’. I made these as dessert.
This recipe makes about 12 rolls. You can refrigerate them for at least a week. They microwave well in just 20 seconds.
Make More
You can also take the mixture I’ve used and use the Nutella as a topping… Here is a way to use the inside of the rolls that you pinched out, or just go old-school and make a toast:
The bread chunks being soaked in the egg will hold together when it cooks. I used some silicone molds I had to make “cups” with. But you can also spray a muffin pan and place them in the oven, that way.
Nutella French Toast Hawaiian Rolls

- mixing bowl
- Measuring Cup
- Oven
Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian Rolls
- 3/4 cup Heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 eggs
- 1 small jar Nutella
Instructions
- Mix eggs, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon in a bowl big enough to dip the rolls.
- Pinch a small hole in the top center of each roll.
- Soak the rolls, being sure to get the mixture to soak the walls of your small hole as well, and place them standing in a muffin tin or on a cookie sheet.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Fill the center of each roll with about a teaspoon of Nutella. Once the oven is warm, place the rolls in the center for around 10 minutes. You want the egg to cook, but the tops not to burn.
- Add more Nutella to the center and serve!
